JAYE KRANZis an award-winning documentary audio producer and writer based in Melbourne, Australia.
Her work sits broadly in the areas of audio features—for podcast and broadcast; literary nonfiction; narrative journalism; and personal storytelling.
Jaye has published short stories and a novella. She writes occasional nonfiction forThe Monthly,and recently spent a year screenwriting for the US film production company Plan B Entertainment. She was a recipient of an Emerging Writers Grant from the Australia Council’s Literature Board and the Queen’s Trust Fund (for Writing).
Jaye’s radio features have aired on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3, on various shows nationally across the ABC RN grid, and the Third Coast Audio Festival podcast.. Her BBC feature ‘Deep Time and the Sparrowhawk’ won two gold trophies at the 2019 New York Radio Festival Awards in the ‘Best Sound’ and ‘Best Documentary’ (Human Relations) categories.
Jaye was guest presenter at the 2016 and 2018 Audiocraft Festival & Conference. She has mentored in audio storytelling, and was the host and producer of various nonfiction writers' festival events, including the twice-sellout Melbourne Writers Festival storytelling event The Radio Hour.
Under the moniker Brighter Later, Jaye wrote and self-produced the albumThe Wolves (and its follow-up single Brace), earning her a nomination for the prestigious Australian Music Prize. As frontwoman for the Melbourne outfit, she has supported the likes of Martha Wainwright and Calexico (USA).See music tab for more.
